Christmas Day

The kids set out cookies and milk for Santa, and wrote Santa a letter. Hewson also left his list of what he wanted. He drew pictures of everything. I guess this was so santa could do some last minute shopping. Roland found the crumbs santa left in the morning and was helping himself. We were very excited to have our very first white Christmas. We had a great day opening presents, eating a lot, and playing with all our new things. We are very blessed and we had a really great day.

The kids love books. Cameron moved all of her presents aside so she could read her new books.

Roland enjoyed the boxes the presents came in.

Cameron got some new pajamas for Christmas and matching ones for baby molly.

Well it has been summer since I have blogged. I am so sorry. There is so much I would like to blog about and pictures to share but I am still trying to recover all of them and get them onto my computer, but I will wait no longer to give you a few updated pictures. I will give you what I have for now, and then try and go back with some fun birthday pics, school fun, and whatever else I can find that might be of interest.

Summer fun

We have had a great summer with swim lessons, lots of visitors, cook outs, fair, farms and lots of swimming. Grandma is here this week and we are getting ready for school. We are starting next week, but Hewson got a little jump start. Here are some pics from the last month.

Cameron has been asking for this dessert for awhile and I finally had all the ingredients = Rocky Road ice cream, sugar cone, whip cream and a cherry. She was very excited and this was a distraction from her earache. She has had swimmers ear and it was bothering her again, so we went back to the doctors and got some more drops after this picture was taken. Our friend Tavo is also visiting and he let Cameron play his little guitar.

8 months old

Roland is already eight months old. He seems to have become a toddler overnight. He has eight teeth now and just started crawling on all fours. He still scoots some because it is faster for him. He is also pulling himself up and standing. He has also started talking a lot and rocking to music, and he laughs a lot.

We had friends over for a BBQ and my brother was also here visiting. We had a great time with lots of kids and yummy food. Jess made a delicious apple pie and we all went to see fireworks.

Garden 2010

We tried to be a little more organized in the planting this year, but the cucumber and watermelon are still taking over. Here is are first cucumber, second tomato and we have been getting a lot of beans. Are basil is also doing really well and Jeremy picks this often.

Apple Bread

The kids and I made yummy apple bread. They were a great help. They also helped me eat it. We ate the whole loaf in one day between the three of us except for one small piece.

Jack's B-Day/ Lake trip

We went to the lake for our good buddy Jack's 3rd Birthday. This was our first time to the lake and we all had a blast. The kids could touch for a long time and they loved playing in the sand.

Roland is 7 months old. He is scooting everywhere, and has a half crawl going on. The kids like to put toys in front of him and make him try and get them. He is sitting up on his own, but still occasionally falls. He has seven teeth, and has enjoyed swimming a lot this summer.

Junie B. Jones

Cousin Kira introduced the kids to the Junie B. Jones chapter books, and we all love reading them. She is a goofy kindergardener and First grader that really makes us laugh. She came to Nashville. Cameron and I went to see her at Barnes and Noble and we had a great time. It was very crowded.

Laundry King and Queen

Well you have met the laundry Princess, now meet the king and Queen. This is how the kids help me with Laundry. They put the clothes on while I try and fold them and make up some game. It is actually helpful because they stay pretty entertained.

Roland was actually 6 months in May, but I was a little late posting. It is so fun to watch him play with toys and discover what they all do. He is trying really hard to get around. He rolls and and slides. He is working on two more teeth on top. He still loves to jump and is eating all kinds of baby food.

Libby's baby shower

We had brunch and made onesies for Libby. We had a great time. Who knew the shower would go on for seven hours. Some people could not leave, because this was the day of the flood.

New friends

We made some new friends that got displaced from the flood, so they moved in with us for a week. We had a great time. They have two boys ( one and almost three years old). The boys taught my kids how to play in the dirt and mix play doe. I also got some new recipes from Jess (mom) and had some good adult hang out time after the kids were asleep. I did not get a lot of pics, but here are a few.

Water Fun

As soon as spring hits we try and enjoy the outdoors since it gets pretty hot and humid here in the summer. We broke out the sprinkler and baby pool I got at the end of the summer last year for two bucks. This was before the flood. The kids had so much fun in the water.

Saturday morning it was raining pretty hard as friends started to arrive for a baby shower. We thought it was just another storm that would soon end and leave the skies blue and sunny, but it just kept raining. As the baby shower was ending we started to hear sirens. It was not just fire trucks. It was the tornado sirens in town. They went off three times that day. Soon there was flood warnings, and roads were being closed. My friends tried returning to their families. The last friend left at five and returned home at 6:45 pm. The rain continued through Sunday. We live on a hill, so our home was spared. We are so thankful and blessed. I felt very loved and covered in prayer as many friends, neighbors and family called, emailed and text to see how we were. Here are some pictures from the flood.

Roland is 5 months old. He loves to jump. He is now eating rice cereal, has two teeth, and is rolling over both ways. Roland is truly a blessing and we can not imagine life without him and we can barely remember life before him.

I got to be in one of my dearest, and oldest friends wedding while in CA. We got pedicures and manicures and had a great time hanging out and getting ready for the big day.

Grandma

We visited my Grandma while we were in Ca. We do not get to see her that often and she is 86 years old. We had a nice time. Cameron did a show for her and Hewson explored a little (which is something I loved to do when I was little). Unfortunately we did not see my Grandpa, who is 95, He was still sleeping.

Visiting TN friends in CA

Some of our dearest friends moved from TN to CA. I know, this is very ironic. Gabe and Elisa moved over a year ago and had us over for an amazing brunch. Aimee and Jason moved a little over two months ago, and we also go to spend time with them. We miss you all very much. Thank you for a sweet, relaxing day. The kids also had fun playing with all of Amani's toys.

The Monk Mansion

My parents had a full house the week we were there. The kids were on spring break and so was my brother. My parents and sister, Brenda, also had a little time off. We went out to pizza, celebrated Easter again, went to the San Francisco Bay Aquarium, went out to eat for both Jeremys's birthdays, went to Kira's soccer class, had lots of meals together, and just played a lot. It was a great weak.

Vega's House

We all had a great time with our friends Tavo, Chanda, Dane, and Liam. They are all very hospitable and kind, making sure all our needs were met all the time. The kids went swimming in the hot tub, had stuffed animal wars, watched movies, played video games, and ate lots of good food.

The kids colored Easter eggs with Auntie Jen and Andrew. They also got Easter baskets from Grandma and Grandpa and had an Easter egg hunt. Friday morning we had a yummy breakfast at Mimi's with my good friend Davida (sorry no pics). I miss our long talks and just hanging out. She has always spoiled the kids and been like an aunt to them. She watched Hewson when I was giving birth to Cameron.

Then we went to Tamara's house. She is an old friend from work. She was one of my first office mates back in 2000, and we worked together for over six years. We were also pregnant twice together. She has a lovely family, an awesome backyard, and an amazing garden. It was so good to catch up and see her fam.

Hummer-Limo Trip

Jeremy's Brother, Dean, surprised us all by taking us out to dinner in a Hummer-Limo. We all had a blast, and the kids had their own section in the back. It was so nice to ride all together and talk, and nobody had to drive. There were 13 of us in all.

Our first stop was Nate and Angela's house. Angela and I have been friends since before we were one. It was fun to see our kids playing together.

We just came home from two weeks in California. We had a great time visiting friends and family. We unfortunately didn't get to see everyone. The kids did get a lot of cousin time and I got to be there for a very special, long time friend's wedding.

I am posting this For Grandma Schulz, so I hope this is not disturbing to anyone else who might be reading. One sunny day last week the kids and I were playing outside. We came in for lunch. The kids were hot so they decided to take their clothes off. While I was making lunch Grandma Schulz called, and the next thing I knew there were two new super heros in the house. Hewson and Cameron stuck footballs in their underwear and called themselves Rocket Boy and Rocket Girl.

St. Patrick's Day

This year we decided to really celebrate St. Patrick's Day and do it pretty much all week. On Monday Jeremy read to the kids about St. Patrick;s day and how it originated. Then that night we had our friend Kristen over and we made yummy, green cupcakes. On Tuesday we shared the cupcakes with Neighbors and a band that was staying with us. Then on the actual day we made sure to all wear green, and we ate lots of green food. We ate green yogurt, green cherry juice, and for dinner the kids had green pancakes, green grapes, and Cameron brought out the pickles. She said we should have these too because they were green. I think she ate three. We also made Shamrocks. That evening I had some more friends over for dinner. We ate a really yummy salad and Our friend Josh cooked some amazing Chicken with some green in it. (Jeremy is gone this week)

Moby Wrap

Laundry Princess

Laundry is something that seems pretty non-stop in our house. Cameron is a big helper with chores, and she even likes to help fold laundry. She doesn't really know how, so she usually just hands me things or finds all of the socks. On this day she was a princess and she made her home in my laundry.

Lego King

Hewson made al sorts of lego creations all weekend. He asked us to build with him, and whomever came over to build too. If he liked what you built it went on the coffee table. If he did not like it, or it was not cool enough, it went back in the box.

Poopy Afternoon.

Now from the title you might think that the afternoon was all bad, but it was not. I bet many of you can relate to this and it is a little comical. Okay, a lot comical. Last Friday it had been raining the night before so it was wet outside, so Hewson's soccer practice was cancelled. Fridays we have also labeled as Friday fun days. The kids get to play video games and we do not do school, and we try and go somewhere. Well on this Friday the kids had decided that we were going to build lots of lego things, decorate the house with them and call it a lego Christmas. I will post pictures of some lego creations later. Anyway the kids stayed in their PJ's and by the afternoon they wanted to go outside. So we got ready with Jackets, and i put Roland in the BJorn (I let them keep their Pj's on). It took us some time to get all situated. We finally went outside to play frisbee, and Hewson threw it to me, and then I threw it to him, and boom. Smack, I hit him right in the face with the frisbee on my first throw. He lost it and was crying very hysterical (he is a little dramatic). We went back in the house. Jeremy came up from the studio because it sounded like he cut his hand off. Finally when he calmed down and he went back out, I heard crying again. I went out and he said it is raining. We had missed our window. I stood on the porch and said what a poopy afternoon. Then we looked up and there was the most beautiful double rainbow. It was for Hewson. He even told Cameron when I went inside for the camera that he was so glad God finally sent a rainbow again. The rain stopped and we were able to play.

Spring Day

Monday was a beautiful sunny day. We spent most of it outside. I didn't realize how much I missed it. Hewson played with bubbles for hours. Cameron did chalk, played in the dirt, and picked flowers for everyone. Roland enjoyed laying on a blanket in the sun.

Spring Soccer

Road trip to Arkansas

Jeremy went to New York for a week to record a friend of his, so the kids and I decided to take a road trip to Arkansas to visit my Aunt Jackie and Uncle James. We had so much fun. We were very spoiled and I gained back baby weight I had lost. We went to a Nature center where Hewson got to pretend he was flying a plane, which he loved. We also played games, baked cookies, watched movies, blew bubbles and picked flowers with Uncle James.

We had a wonderful Christmas opening presents, being together, eating yummy food, playing legos, and watching the snow. The kids opened new books from Davida Christmas eve, and wanted to read them Christmas morning before opening any presents. I love their love for books.

Cameron got a leapster for Christmas like Hewson's except that it is pink and purple. They also enjoyed playing legos. It was definitely a lego Christmas. Cameron even got "girly" legos like she requested.

Jeremy took the kids out in the morning, so i could clean the house and get ready for Christmas. Cameron picked out her outfit and it was a little bit Punky Brewster like. Then that night Hewson and Cameron put on a Christmas eve show. They quoted a memory verse, sang away in the Manger and acted out the Christmas story with pictures they made in school while I read the story.

This year for our Christmas party with friends we decided to make eggnog from scratch. We tried three different recipes and everybody brought ingredients and snacks. Afterwards some of us sang Christmas carols. We had a great time.

We always let the kids pick the tree. This year it was a little short, but it was definitely the right price and I think it turned out really good. We put Thomas the train around it too carrying presents. The kids were very helpful with the lights and the garland and could not wait to get the ornaments on the tree. Cameron is having a hard time waiting for something to appear in her stocking.

Roland Jeffery Schulz

Roland was born on 11/11/2009 at 4:33 am. He was 7 lbs 15.6 ounces and 20 3.4 in long. Roland is named after the lead singer of Tears for Fears and his middle name Jeffery is after our mentor Jeff Richard who passed away this year. Jeff helped us get into our house in Ca. and guide us spiritually and financially.

Having Child #3

Overall, I had a great experience delivering Roland. I decided to have my water Broken, since my doctor was going out of town on my due date. I think this took some of the anxiety away from everyone since Cameron was almost born in the car. This also helped with setting up Child care for the kids. My doctor is awesome. He let Jeremy help deliver Roland, and then he prayed for Roland afterwards. The nurses were also amazing, and I loved the hospital. I did find out that I was allergic to penecillin which was not fun. I had trouble breathing. We are so Thankful that Roland is healthy.

Hewson's 5th Birthday Party

Hewson is turning 5. Pretty unbelievable. We wanted to throw him a party before the new baby arrived. He invited some of his old friends, neighborhood buddies, and new soccer friends. Hewson wanted a pirate party, so we had pirate music, prizes, games and decorations. We had a great time, and the kids seemed to really enjoy the games. Jeremy built a balloon dart game. Hewson saw this at the fair and really wanted to play it. We also played pin the treasure chest on the map. After all of Hewson's friends had eaten their cake, and had gone off to play, Hewson was left at the table alone still eating his cake. He was enjoying every bite.

Aunt Jackie and Uncle James came for a quick visit from Arkansas. They came bearing gifts for the new baby and a beautiful crib. We had a great visit, and the kids really enjoyed their time with them. Cameron kept bringing more books for Aunt Jackie to read, and Hewson enjoyed his new coloring and activity books. The kids helped Jeremy put together the crib. Well, mostly Hewson. He was a really big help. Cameron helped me pack the baby bag for the hospital and she picked out one pink pacifier and one bllue pacifier. She now thinks I am having a girl.

Winter

Winter came a little early this year. Our house was pretty cold, and we all got a little sick. Here are the kids bundle up. I think fall weather is back though. It has warmed up a little and the leaves are changing colors and falling off the trees. This is all of ours favorite time of year.

Alpaca Farm

Today was a beautiful sunny day, so the kids and I ventured to an Alpaca farm after church. It was a farm day open house. Cameron really enjoyed it. Hewson did too but was not really fond of the poop on the ground. Our guide was an adorable seven year old named Maddie. I asked if she lived there and she said no that she just worked there. She taught the kids a lot.

Our friends Megan and Simon came over for a few hours yesterday to play. Here are the boys making goofy faces for me.

Cameron

Cameron has been calling herself super-girl lately. She puts on her rain boots (super boots) and gets a book mark (super card) and a hand slapper toy (super gun) and does funny things around the house and often comes to dinner like this. She also got herself dressed today after she went to the bathroom, but she came out in her underwear without her shorts on. I later realized she did have her shorts on but they were under her underwear and backwards. She cracks us up daily.

Here I am at 33 weeks. The doctor says everything looks fine and the the head is down. I am feeling pretty good, just getting bigger. My due date is November 13th.

Watermelon

Well, we have about five watermelons growing in are garden right now, and Cameron and I could not wait to try one. So we went out early in the morning and picked one. Jeremy and Hewson insisted it was not ready, but we cut it open anyway, and they were right. It had very little pink in it, but Cameron and i still tried it. Not so good. Oh well. Better luck next time.

A day at the fair.

This was our first homeschool field trip. We got rained out Thursday, so we went on Saturday. It turned out to be a great day. We have been learning about farm animals in school and reading Charlotte's web, so this was a good outing for us. We finished the book that night and then watched the movie.

Rainy day blues

Cameron was just not happy this day. So I took her for a walk in the rain. After a few walks (and a nap) she seemed a lot better.

Soccer

Hewson started soccer. He scored the first goal of the season. He really enjoys it and is making friends. He is so fun to watch

Ballet

Cameron started a ballet class. She has always been our little dancer. She is so fun to watch. Her first class happened to be on her third birthday.

I have started homeschooling Hewson in Kindergarten and Cameron in Preschool. Hewson was so excited the first day. He got himself dressed all nice, grabbed his backpack and posed for pics.

Our Garden

Jeremy got me a garden for mother's day. It has been something I have wanted since we lived in Ca. I have no idea what I am doing though. We bought great soil, had the kids help us plant all kinds of seeds and here it is. The cucumbers and melons took over the garden, but it has been fun.

Brenda's Wedding

We all had a great time in Ca. for Brenda's wedding visiting old friends and family. I was able to go a couple days early and hang with Brenda before the big day. Brenda's was a beautiful and fun bride.

We had a party for Camero's 2nd birthday while Grandma and Grandpa were here at Chuck E. Cheese and our Bestest friends Britain and Brooke came (our Wonderful Neighbors). I am not sure who had more fun Grandpa or the kids. Grandpa was a basktball star, fulfilling all of his dreams, but Hewson kept beating him in the squirt gun race game. Grandpa has requested to Celebrate his birthday there this year. When Cameron was asked what she liked best about Chuck E. Cheese, she said the cake.

Zoo Day.

One of our favorite things to do in Nashville (well the kids and I) is going to the the zoo. So we had to take Grandma and Grandpa. Hewson is often known as the tour guide or zoo expert. Hewson asks what something is and then proceeds to tell everyone else around him about the animal. Most adults love this, and the other kids just look at him.

Grandparents Visit

Grandpa and Grandma Monk Visited this last week from California. Grandpa had not been to Tennessee before so we had to show him all the great sites and resturaunts. Cameron and Hewson enjoyed talking their ears off. We all kept very busy and had a great time. We even made time to go swimming at their hotel.
